Study Rooms

The University Library has nearly 40 Group Study Rooms (GSRs) for CSUSM student groups to work in, which can be found on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors of the library. Most rooms seat six people, but we also have GSRs for groups as large as 12 people and as small as 4 people. All rooms have tables, chairs, a whiteboard, and power outlets. GSRs on the 5th floor feature additional technology to facilitate collaborative work, including widescreen digital displays with HDMI or wireless connections.

The University Library also has 4 Zoom Rooms on the 3rd floor of the library for CSUSM student individual study.

Reserve a Study Room

To see if a room is available or to make a reservation, check out the calendar on the Library Room Scheduler website. All rooms must be reserved in advance – rooms on the 5th floor are open for reservations two weeks in advance, rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors are open for reservations 24 hours in advance.

Study Room Policy

Study rooms are for current CSUSM student academic use only. Group study rooms on the 4th and 5th floors are restricted to groups of 2 or more students, while the Zoom Rooms on the 3rd floor may be reserved for independent study. Faculty and staff members needing rooms on campus should contact Event and Conference Services, x8800. While non-CSUSM users can not use the study rooms, they are welcome to use the Library and may find other spaces that will meet their study needs.

Complete information on who can use the GSRs, how to make reservations, and how the rooms should be used can be found on the GSR Policy webpage.
