New Resource Sharing Interface

In Summer 2022, the Library implemented a new resource sharing system that changes the look of request forms in the Library's discovery system, OneSearch. All 23 campuses of the California State University system have implemented this new system. The system has been rolled out for book requests and will later be rolled out for article requests.

This new system expands our CSU+ network, enabling borrowing from other CSU campuses as well as other California and regional universities we partner with, to get you the items you need as fast as possible. CSU+ borrowing periods will continue to be 16 weeks (or 112 days) for most loans. If your requests cannot be filled through our new system, they will automatically be processed through our traditional InterLibrary Loan system, ILLiad, which allows us to borrow books and articles from all around the world, as well as the purchase of digital copies of ebooks when available.

When signed in and viewing a book that the CSUSM Library does not provide access to, you will now see a display that will ask if you want to request a copy from another Library, along with a Get It button. You must be signed in to view the Get It button and submit a request. If a book is not available through the expanded CSU+ network and must be filled through our traditional Interlibrary Loan system, the time period for which the item can be kept for will not be displayed.

After signing in, you will then have the option to select the Pickup Location. You can pickup items at the Library's circulation desk (available for pickup during the Library's open hours), from the Library's contact-free lockers (available for pickup 24/7), or mailed to the address you specify with the "Mail-to-Home" option (you MUST put your mailing address in the Notes field if you select Mail-to-Home).

The Volume field can be left blank unless you are requesting a specific volume from a multi-volume set or series.

The Not Needed After date refers to the date after which the item is no longer useful to you (for example, if you have a paper due September 1st and need the item before August 15th in order to use it for your paper, please put a Not Needed after Date of August 15th).

The Notes field can be left blank unless you selected Mail-to-Home as your pickup location, in which case you MUST put your mailing address in the Notes field, or the request will be converted to in-library pickup

If you do not see an item that you requested on your "My Library Account" page, the request may not have been fillable by our new system's partners, in which case you can check the status of your request through the library's InterLibrary Loan system, or contact ill@csusm.edu.
