Library – Adjunct Instruction/Reference Librarian (Science)

California State University San Marcos's Library seeks an adjunct faculty librarian for the 2012/13 academic school year.  Assignment will be in the Teaching and Learning(T&L) to support Library Instruction in the subject areas of Biological Sciences/ Biotechnology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Mathematics and Applied Physics. Other duties and or subject responsibilities may be assigned. Rank and salary is at the Assistant Librarian level. This position is available for benefits.

The position will provide subject instruction and information literacy instruction in general education classes as well as be scheduled to be on call at the Library’s Research Help Desk (both in-person and virtually), and attend regular Teaching and Learning(T&L) meetings. Some instruction and on-call research hours may be scheduled for evenings or weekends. This position may be assigned other duties as needed.

Minimum qualifications for the position include:  an MLS from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent. Recent experience providing reference and instruction in an academic library. Experience in instructionally-related technologies. High level of self-motivation and enthusiasm. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues, students, faculty and staff.

Preferred Requirements: Preference will be given to individuals with experience teaching and providing reference in the subject areas of Biological Sciences/Biotechnology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Mathematics and Applied Physics.
