As part of the Senior Capstone in Sociological Scholarship, you will create a project that demonstrates your mastery of learning objectives in the Sociology major. Some of your assignments in this course include the creation of a References List (30 sources) and an Annotated Bibliography (25 sources).
For the Annotated Bibliography, students will:
1. Identify and explain the thesis argument and research contribution of the published research;
2. Identify and explain the strengths/ limitations of the published research with attention to the parts that resonate with your specific angle to the chosen topic. In short, not everything in the research article, just a few specific points. For example, evaluate how the research was carried out, the clarity of the findings, anything that helps you get a sense of how to improve upon the gaps of scholarly understanding in that area.
3. Reflect on the source's potential to help you "build your case" and argumentation.
--> Word count minimum: 150, per source.
The References List and the Annotated Bibliography should be formatted according to the American Sociological Association's Style Manual.
