Now Hiring: Outreach Student Assistant

A creative, energetic student with excellent communication skills to assist with library programming and other events, social media, displays, flyers, tours, and other outreach initiatives.

Work Schedule: 

  • Summer: average 12/hrs week. Schedule to be determined around summer classes and orientations.
  • NOTE: must be available for training beginning June 12th.
  • Fall/Spring: average 8-10/hrs week. Schedule to be determined around class schedule and outreach events.
  • Preferred availability includes U-hour. Some evenings and weekends with advanced notice.

Wage/Salary : $10.50/hr

Job description:

The student assistant will:

  • work with outreach staff and librarian on various programming, displays, exhibits, tabling, and events;
  • create engaging social media content and posts for the University Library's social media outlets (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram);
  • deliver library tours and orientations to campus and community groups as needed;
  • and work independently on outreach related projects.

Qualifications:

  • excellent public speaking and people skills.
  • strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • knowledge of social media platforms.
  • ability to work with desktop publishing tools.
  • ability to work independently under general supervision.
  • attention to detail and quality of work.
  • perform physical tasks when necessary.
  • must be continuously enrolled at least half-time during the academic year. Undergraduate students (including credential students) must be continuously enrolled for a minimum of 6 units. Graduate students must be continuously enrolled for a minimum of 4 graduate level units.
  • must maintain 2.0 cumulative GPA.
