These policies apply to CSU San Marcos Kellogg Library patrons.
The Circuit is available only to the following CSU San Marcos patrons that have a campus ID, current validation, and are in good standing with the library.
Eligible Patrons include CSU San Marcos:
All eligible Kellogg Library patrons may order and have up to 20 Circuit items on their record at any given time.
Circuit materials are checked out for 28 days.
Materials borrowed through the Circuit cannot be placed on Reserve.
Two 28 day renewals are permitted provided there are no holds on the item.
The owning library reserves the right to recall Circuit materials at any time. Recalled materials must be returned to the Kellogg Library Circulation Desk immediately.
Circuit materials must be deposited in one of our book drops or returned to the Kellogg Library Circulation Desk on or before the due date.
Overdue fees of $1.00 per day are assessed up to a maximum of $15.00.
Overdue Circuit materials are billed 15 days after the duedate. Replacement costs for all Circuit materials are as follows:
|Processing Fee:||$ 25.00|
|Billing Fee:||$ 15.00|
If a patron believes they have already returned a billed Circuit book, they can file a “Claims Returned” at the Kellogg Library Circulation Desk. The material will be searched for here at the Kellogg Library as well as at the owning library. If found, the material is permanently cleared off the patron’s record. The “Claims Returned” material that is not found must be paid for by the patron.
Circuit materials must be returned in the same condition as they were received. A patron should report damage upon receiving the material at the checkout desk and it will be noted on the paging slip.
Examples of damage include but are not limited to the following:
*Although Post-It notes can be easily removed from pages, they leave a chemical residue behind that can cause long term damage to the books. It is recommended that you use index cards or strips of paper for page markers and/or note taking.
Materials returned with damage are sent to the Circuit Operations unit where repair costs are estimated. The patron returning the damaged material will be billed for the repairs.
Materials with excessive damage must be replaced. The replacement cost for damaged material is list above in the Overdue & Lost Material section.
