CSUSM students, faculty and staff
Alumni, North County Community Colleges and other CSUs, may borrow up to 10 items, databases available onsite to these groups.
Community Borrower cards are available for $30.00. Please visit the Community Borrowers page for more information.
Circulating library books may be checked out at the 3rd floor Circulation desk for 13 weeks for faculty and graduate students, 4 weeks for all other library users. Periodicals and reference books do not circulate.
Videos, DVDs, CDs, audio cassettes, and other formats are located in the Media Library and check out for one week.
Media item limit is four (4) of each format
Items may be renewed two times online, at the Circulation desk or by phone
Media can be renewed one time online, at the Circulation desk or by phone
All library users in good standing may request available library items. These items will be retrieved by library staff and held for pick-up under the borrowers name at the circulation desk. Items will be held for one week before being reshelved.
To request items:
Most library items can be requested but there are some exceptions including: reserves, reference materials, periodicals, archives and some special collections. An email will be sent to the borrower when the item is ready for pick-up. Library items may also be requested at the circulation desk or over the phone at 760/750-4348.
Overdue fees are $0.25 per day (Max. $25.00) per item.
Overdue fees for circulating media materials are $1.00 per day.
Overdue fees for media equipment are $5.00 per day, per item.
Billing amounts per item:
Administrators are defined in this policy as Presidents, Vice Presidents, Associate Vice Presidents, Deans, and Directors.
With a current CSUSM ID faculty and administrators are allowed the following:
Faculty and administrators are responsible for the timely return of library materials. Materials not renewed or returned by the due date are overdue. A hold will be placed on the library record of anyone who has overdue materials and billed 21 days after due date. Library privileges will be suspended until the material is returned.
Be advised that material checked out in this manner will be on the faculty member's / administrator's record. Ultimate responsibility for the material belongs to the faculty member/administrator. Any overdue notices, bills or suspension of privileges will appear on the faculty member's/administrator's record. It is important that your teaching assistants/support staff do not abuse this privilege and check out their materials under the Administator's name.
Faculty and administrators may grant their teaching assistants or support staff permission to check out materials in their name. A written consent form (PDF, 53K) must be filled out each semester. ID will be required at each checkout to verify that the teaching assistant or support staff is the one allowed this privilege.
